Resources to help you relate to Promoters

We all have a Promoter part in us, although how strongly developed it is may vary from person to person. When learning to relate more effectively with Promoters, consider it an exercise in getting to know and appreciate that part within you as well!

Procrastination creates Incidence!

Often, Promoters procrastinate because it creates Incidence – the excitement and thrill of the unknown. Waiting until the last minute heightens the sense of risk and requires that Promoters mobilize their Character Strengths of being charming, adaptable, and persuasive. While this may not be your style, it can be invigorating for the Promoter. And it would be false to assume they were lazy or lacked discipline. To leverage this tendency in a Promoter, try waiting until the last minute to spring something on them and see what happens. A previous assistant of mine was Promoter Phase and I would often wait until the last minute to tell her, “Oh, no! I’ve got a big presentation tomorrow and I didn’t give you the materials to copy yet. I know you can pull it off.” The results were consistently astonishing! Leverage the Promoter’s gifts by allowing him/her to save the day at the last minute. – Nate Regier
